Beginning in the late-1970’s, numerous rural school districts in Arkansas turned to wood heat as a way of reducing their substantial heating bills. In most instances, they would heat their large buildings, such as the gymnasium, with the Lynndale commercial-sized furnaces. With the rising cost of energy we are facing today, wood heating remains a viable option for rural school districts that are forced to reduce operating costs. |
